Common Questions
Choosing the right therapist is an important decision.
It’s completely natural to have questions before reaching out. Below are some of the questions I’m most often asked. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please do get in touch.
Before You Begin
-
You don’t need to be in crisis or have a mental health diagnosis to benefit from therapy.
Many people come because they’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed or stuck, navigating a significant life event, experiencing difficulties in their relationships, or simply wanting to better understand themselves.
If you’re unsure, a free 10-minute initial consultation is a good place to start.
-
Psychotherapy provides a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and relationships.
It can help you understand recurring patterns, process difficult experiences, improve emotional wellbeing and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
The aim isn’t simply to reduce symptoms. It’s to help you understand yourself more deeply and create meaningful, lasting change.
-
There isn’t one type of therapy that’s right for everyone.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw on a range of evidence-informed approaches, tailoring therapy to your individual needs rather than expecting you to fit a single model.
If you’re unsure which approach or service is right for you, we can discuss this during your initial consultation.
-
Research consistently shows that the relationship between therapist and client is an important part of successful therapy.
Qualifications and experience matter, but it’s equally important that you feel comfortable, understood and able to build trust.
That’s why I offer a free 10-minute consultation before you decide whether you’d like to book.
Your Sessions
-
The initial consultation is a complimentary 10-minute phone call.
We’ll briefly discuss what’s bringing you here, answer any questions you may have and consider whether working together feels like the right fit.
There’s no obligation to book further sessions.
-
The first session is about getting to know you.
We’ll explore what’s brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to gain and any questions or concerns you may have. It’s also an opportunity for us to begin building a therapeutic relationship and deciding how we’d like to work together.
-
Every session is different because every person is different.
Some sessions may focus on current challenges, while others explore earlier experiences and the patterns that continue to influence your life today.
Together, we’ll work at a pace that feels right for you.
-
Individual Therapy: 50 minutes
Couples Therapy: 60 minutes
Psychotherapeutic Coaching: 60 minutes
-
Most therapy clients attend weekly sessions, particularly at the beginning.
Depending on your needs and the type of work we’re doing, fortnightly sessions may also be appropriate. For Psychotherapeutic Coaching, we can agree a frequency and structure that reflects what you would like to achieve.
-
There isn’t a set number of sessions.
Some people come with a specific issue they’d like to work through over a relatively short period, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper or longstanding patterns.
We’ll review our work together regularly and decide collaboratively what feels most helpful.
-

I offer both online and in-person appointments. Online sessions allow me to work with clients throughout the UK and internationally, while in-person sessions are available in London.

Many clients choose a combination of online and in-person sessions to fit around work, travel and family life.
My Approach
-
Integrative Psychotherapy combines different therapeutic approaches rather than relying on a single model.
My work is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy and informed by attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, EMDR, cognitive approaches, emotional regulation and an understanding of the mind-body connection.
This allows therapy to be tailored to you and what you need.
-
Depending on your needs, I may draw on:
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Attachment Theory
EMDR
Trauma-informed practice
Cognitive approaches
Emotional regulation
Relationship Psychotherapy
The approach is always shaped around you — not the other way around.
-
Not in the traditional sense.
Rather than telling you what to do, therapy helps you better understand yourself, recognise patterns and make decisions that feel authentic and right for you.
-
Counselling often focuses on a specific issue or current difficulty.
Psychotherapy usually explores not only what’s happening now, but also the deeper patterns, relationships and experiences that may be influencing your life today.
Both can be valuable, and the right approach depends on your individual needs.
-
Therapy is usually the better choice if you’re looking to understand yourself more deeply, process difficult experiences or improve your emotional wellbeing.
Coaching is more future-focused, helping you gain clarity, navigate change and move towards your goals.
My Psychotherapeutic Coaching approach can also explore the psychological and relational patterns that may be influencing how you approach those goals.
If you’re unsure which would be most appropriate, we can discuss this during your initial consultation.
-
Couples Therapy provides a safe, structured space to better understand your relationship, improve communication and change patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
My role isn’t to take sides or decide who’s right. It’s to help you better understand one another and the relationship you’re creating together.
-
Sometimes an hour isn’t enough.
I also offer half-day and full-day intensive sessions for couples who want to work in greater depth over a concentrated period of time.
These can be particularly helpful following infidelity, during periods of repeated conflict or when important decisions about the relationship need to be made.
