Couples Therapy
Every relationship faces challenges.
Life has a way of testing even the strongest relationships. The pressures of work, family life, parenthood, loss, illness, blended families, changing priorities or simply the demands of everyday life can gradually leave couples feeling disconnected, misunderstood or stuck in patterns they no longer know how to change.
Some couples come after a specific event, such as an affair or a breakdown in communication. Others simply recognise that they’re no longer relating to one another in the way they once did.
Whatever has brought you here, couples therapy offers the opportunity to slow down, understand what’s happening between you and begin finding a way forward.
What Can COUPLES Therapy Help With?
Couples seek therapy for many different reasons, including:
Communication difficulties
Repeated conflict and recurring arguments
Emotional distance or feeling disconnected
Rebuilding trust after infidelity
Intimacy and sexual difficulties
Fertility, pregnancy and the transition to parenthood
Parenting and blended family challenges
Family conflict
Life transitions
Grief, illness or caring responsibilities
Deciding whether to stay together or separate
Strengthening an already healthy relationship
You don’t have to be on the brink of separation to benefit from therapy. Many couples come because they want to invest in their relationship before difficulties become more deeply established.
What Happens in Therapy?
Couples therapy provides a confidential, structured space where both partners have the opportunity to feel heard. Together we’ll explore:
-

Relationship Now
We’ll explore what’s happening in your relationship and the challenges you’re experiencing right now.
-

Recurring Patterns
Together, we’ll identify the patterns that keep repeating and begin to understand what’s maintaining them.
-

IndividualHistories
We’ll explore how your individual histories, needs, fears and emotions influence your relationship and the way you relate to one another.
-

Moving Forward
It’s to develop a deeper understanding of yourself so that you’re no longer driven by patterns you aren’t fully aware of.
Intensive Couples Therapy
Sometimes an hour a week simply isn’t enough.
When a relationship is at a crossroads, following an affair, during a period of repeated conflict or when important decisions need to be made, an extended session can create the time and space for deeper, more meaningful work.
I offer half-day and full-day Intensive Couples Therapy for couples who want to make significant progress over a short period of time. Each intensive is tailored to your relationship, combining thoughtful therapeutic exploration with practical strategies to help you better understand one another and move forward.
Intensives are particularly helpful for couples travelling from outside London, those with busy schedules or anyone wanting to complement ongoing therapy with a more focused piece of work.
If you’re unsure whether regular couples therapy or an intensive is the best place to begin, we can discuss this during your free 10-minute initial consultation.

Got questions?
-
Couples therapy can help at many different stages of a relationship.
You may be experiencing repeated conflict, communication difficulties, emotional or physical distance, a loss of trust, infidelity or a significant life transition.
You don’t need to wait until your relationship is in crisis. Couples therapy can also provide a space to understand one another more deeply and strengthen your relationship.
-
Couples therapy provides a safe, structured space to explore what’s happening between you, understand the patterns you may have become caught in and find different ways of communicating and relating.
My role isn’t to take sides or decide who is right. It’s to help you both better understand yourselves, one another and the relationship you’re creating together.
-
The first session gives us an opportunity to understand what has brought you to couples therapy, hear each of your perspectives and begin identifying what you would like to change.
We’ll also talk about how we might work together and give you both an opportunity to ask questions.
-
Yes. Infidelity can profoundly affect trust and emotional safety within a relationship.
Therapy can provide a structured space to understand what has happened, process its impact and consider what comes next. This may involve rebuilding the relationship or gaining greater clarity about its future.
-
Repeated arguments are often about more than the issue being discussed in the moment.
Couples can become caught in familiar patterns of pursuing, withdrawing, criticising, defending or feeling unheard. Therapy helps us slow these patterns down, understand what lies beneath them and develop different ways of responding to one another.
